Bending Rods in Baffin Bay

Captain Kenny Thompson and the crew headed out at 4am in search of some Rod Bending Action.  We were targeting Speckled Trout in numbers and in size.

Billy Gerke of ForEverlast Fishing and Hunting products was with us to make the day a rock solid fishing experience.  I was using one of his new wade belt units and his traditional Ray Guard Boots and we were using live Croaker as bait.

 Life bait is really the most effective way to catch fish.  Trout will move in very aggressively to take Croaker since the Croaker emit a croaking sound in the water to draw in the bite.

Our strategy was to fish the rocks and shorelines of Baffin Bay.   Structure holds baitfish and GAME FISH.  Today, as usual, moving water turned on the bite.

Anglers Note:

We will be making a DVD with the footage that we shot today.  We will focus on the benefits of wade fishing as compared to stationary fishing or drift fishing.   Covering water in a stealth mode and fishing structure is the key.   Three anglers caught over 60 really nice trout today.

In reality, the ability to stay tight to the environment and move over the area in a stealth mode will enable you to move quietly in and on fish that are feeding

The challenge with wade fishing on camera is keeping the camera boat in the area without spooking the game fish.  In our case we used a trolling motor and a shallow water anchoring system, Powerpole, to stay in as tight as possible with out spooking the fish.  If you will notice, you really will not see many fishing shows regarding wade fishing for Speckled Trout.  Today, our best fish was 29 inches and we released her.  Our day consisted of fish in numbers and 10 fish over 25 inches.  It was a great day on the water.  Watch for it on Fox Southwest this year and a one hour DVD on fishing structure as one of the new additions to the DVD series.
